François Rabelais (n.1483–1494 Chinon, Ranska – 1553 Pariisi) oli ranskalainen renessanssiajan humanisti ja kriittis-humoristinen kirjailija.. Rabelais oli asianajajan poika. Hän opiskeli fransiskaaniluostarissa noviisina keskiajan teologiaa ja antiikin kieliä. Hän kääntyi benediktiiniksi ja jätti lopulta luostarielämän siirtyen maallistuneeksi papiksi.
